CHEEKY CHICKEN | pet photography

oscar131 CROPPEDcopy 2 copyvivHad a unique opportunity to photograph a chicken! Yes a chicken, apparently {as I have recently learned} it’s not that uncommon to keep chickens as pets in the city.  This lucky little chick found herself safely & unexpectedly in my cousins care at a construction site he was working. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a chicken shoot, cats & dogs yes, but chickens not so much.  I’ll admit I didn’t think that a regular chicken could be all that interesting. But I was wrong! Chasing after a chicken with my lens was both a great and new experience.  A bit shy infront of the camera at first, this cheeky little chick warmed up quickly & seemed to like the all the attention. I have to say that after this photo shoot I am seeing chickens in a new way. I am amazed at the beautiful colours & striking features, not to mention the character of this particular chicken. Of  all my animal photo sessions, this little chicken has definitely proved to be one of my most interesting subjects.

Get ready to be charmed by one “cheeky” chicken:)LrWpFbOscar142 originaleitedcopy copyLrWpFbOSCAR112ORIG copyLrWpFboscar083 copyCROPPED03 copyLrWpFbOSCAR109 CROPPED01 copy

Remembrance Day|November 11th

20091111lwfpoppy copyIn Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Tonka Truck in pink & blue | favourite vintage toy finds

There is something  great about vintage Tonka toys ~ they never really seem to age. When I came across this pink pick-up I thought it was kinda cool, that maybe someone had customized it. Actually Tonka produced these trucks in different colours, including pink, in the early 70’s. I Love it :) Matched together with a blue one, I think they make quite a cute pair. {experimenting with different textures}.LR213 copyLRtonkaTXtruck2pc copyLR186 copyLRtonka220 copy 2

Leaf Peeping | Fall Colours in Caledon, Ontario

I went “Leaf Peeping” this weekend! Yes you heard right…leaf peeping, sounds a bit weird {creepy even}. But it is actually the name for the activity during the autumn season when for a few weeks the leaves begin to change colours. Better still, those of us {me} who go to catch a glimpse of this event as well as photograph it are known as “Leaf peepers” or “Leafers” {Sounds more like something related to a Maple Leaf game to me, but anyway}. It is such a beautiful time to drive through the town of Caledon, Ontario and see all the pretty fall foliage. Gorgeous displays of colour are everywhere from greens, yellows to crimson oranges & reds… Definitely Autumn time at its best!  leafpeepingcollage

Natalie - Your pictures capture exactly why this is my favourite season...absolutely beautiful Laura!

Liz - Laura...absolutely gorgeous, great images and such vibrant colours.

Jennifer - Beautiful colours! I do love this time of year, but I hate how much it rains!

fall family photo shoot |{cheltenham} brampton family photography

Had an enjoyable family session this weekend with Danielle {a childhood friend} & her family. The location of the shoot {at her sisters home} was an absolutely gorgeous country setting near Cheltenham, ON.  Although the morning started off chilly, there was soon a roaring bonfire going to keep us toasty warm. We really enjoyed capturing the day for you  ~ Everyone was super nice and did an awesome job :)

I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!d&famcollage1sneakpeek copy
